Pantler is a place where you discover the true philosophical meaning of digging nose - the deeper you dig, the more shiok you get, and the cleaner your nose.

(What is this Evilbean talking about again?  )

Bartlett Pear Tart ($6.80)

Pantler Cafe - Bartlett Pear Tart

The Bartlett Pear Tart is a tart with Bartlett Pear (a kind of summer pear that is sweet), almond cream, Pâte Sucrée (a French crust that is crumblier, less flaky and more like a cookie in texture) and rum. I didn't really like the tart base, as I am more predisposed to crispy, dense and hard tarts rather than loose, crumbly tarts. The light almond cream went well with the sweet pears, and the rum taste wasn't that overpowering.

Bitter Lemon Soda ($6.80)

Bitter Lemon Soda

This organic Bitter Lemon soda is PERFECT for eating pastries and desserts. The mild bitter taste helps to cleanse the sweetness in your mouth and the sparkling sourish lemon opens up your appetite for more! The bottle also looks very photogenic against the white background.

Pain au Chocolat ($3)

Pantler Cafe - Pain au Chocolat

The pain au chocolat will fortunately not bring you any pain, but instead you will be greeted with the combination of French A.O.P butter and Belgium chocolate filling. I love to bite into croissants that are baked flaky and gives you the feeling that you are biting into a thousand layers of crispy dough. Unfortunately, the croissant was not flaky enough and the chocolate was pretty normal. Definitely not worth the $3 price tag.

Vera ($8.50)

Vera is the star of my first visit to Pantler. As mentioned on my Instagram, Vera is a combination of French strawberry and pistachio brûlée pastry that has layers of surprise. It gets better the deeper you dig (just like digging your nose). The core is delicious with multiple layers consisting of strawberry jam, pistachio brûlée and crumbles coupled with the jelly-like outer layer. This is a MUST ORDER if you like surprises while digging!

Cafe Rating (out of 5 Evilbeans):

Evilbean's last words/recommendation:
- Pantler Cafe serves drool-worthy pastries inside a cozy, albeit dark interior. Perfect for couples and people who just wants to fade in the background and eat their pastries.
- MUST-ORDER: Vera
