Set Lunch for 2 Promotion
Momiji has introduced a Set Lunch for 2 promotion at only $21.90. The set comes with a choice of:
- Beef and pork collar shabu shabu
- Platter of vegetables and mushrooms
- Trio of handmade minced meat paste: Kimchi, Cuttlefish and Minced Pork
- Four special sauces: Yuzu sauce, Sweet-Sour Ponzu sauce, Miso sauce and Black Sesame sauce.
There are 3 new soup bases which you can choose from: Tom Yum, Spicy Mala and Herbal. The Evilbean got to try 2 out of the 3 soup base.
Herbal
If you are looking for some healthy indulgence, then go for their herbal soup base, which is chicken broth prepared with Goji berries and a medley of 8 types of Chinese herbs.
One tip to a sweet soup base is to add in a lot of vegetables. Once the soup is sweet enough, everything will taste that much nicer. I found the taste of the soup to be a bit lacking on its own.
Spicy Mala
If you like to add chilli in everything you eat, their Spicy Mala soup base will be a good choice for you. Made with mala, a generous amount of chilli and leek, the spiciness in this one can be quite overbearing for people who cannot take spicy food.
However, to people who regularly torture their bowels with chilli, I would say that this is not spicy at all.
If you do not know what is Shabu-Shabu, it is actually an onomatopoeia of "swish-swish", which is the sound made when you dip your meat into the simmering broth. The way to eat Shabu-Shabu is easy. All you have to do is to swish your meat inside the soup first.
Beef Collar
The optimal taste is when the meat turns from pink to slightly brownish.
Then, all that is left is to dip your meat into the dipping sauces and you can enjoy your "swish-swish" meat!
At $21.90 for 2 pax, which is about $11 for each person, the set lunch promotion is value-for-money as long as you are not a fussy eater.
